01

The brief

Fieldnote gathers soil, weather and yield data from thousands of sensors, but its customers were drowning in charts. The old dashboard showed everything at once, and most growers exported the data to spreadsheets just to answer one question: what should I do in the field this week?

02

The approach

I spent harvest season riding along with growers and agronomists, then rebuilt the dashboard around decisions instead of datasets. Each field now opens with a short, plain-language summary and one recommended action, with the detailed charts a tap away for anyone who wants them. A new visual language for data, built on warm, colour-blind-safe palettes, keeps trends readable in bright sunlight on a tablet in the cab.

03

The outcome

Growers now start their mornings in Fieldnote instead of a spreadsheet. The redesign became the foundation of Fieldnote's design system and has shipped across web, tablet and mobile.
